Stayin sane on a foreign platform
I use andLinux at work, where I have to use Windows instead of my favorite Desktop Operating System. It's the one thing that keeps me sane while using Windows.
Applications
I use gnome-terminal and emacs on a daily basis. In gnome-terminal I mostly run ipython, ssh, netcat, nmap and lftp. I also sometimes use gtetrinet. ;-)
While most of these applications are available through native ports or cygwin, having them available via apt-get and in a known and proven (Linux-) environment makes me much more happy and productive. - Just A Foo 15:16, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Finally "Virtual" with low RAM
I'm using andLinux on a 5 yr old Thinkpad XP Notebook with 512 Megs of RAM (and DDR1-SODIMMs to increase to the 1 GB maximum of this box are unreasonably expensive) which makes any virtualization of Linux rather slow. Now with 192 Megs for andLinux it works much better than expected (and all the cygwin stuff I tried). - Umberto 19:33, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
This makes my corporate world much easier.
I'll even get rid of my VMware Linux image because andLinux is so easy. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Thumbs up on a Tablet PC
I was looking for a way to run native Linux applications on my convertible Tablet at work. I am a scientist and need some Unix connectivity as well as special software both in Windows and Linux. andlinux was the only workable solution, popular Linux distros won't work well on a Tablet. I can now run both OS on the same desktop, a blessing! - Lewis September 30, 2008
